Throwback: Dark Places by Gillian Flynn

It’s been a while since I’ve read an honest to good thriller/mystery. I was reminiscing on one of my all-time favorites, and decided to dig up this review from the good ole’ archives. So enjoy a slightly hysterical M when she was in the midst of trying to graduate high school with an ounce of sanity:

*Gasp* I think this is the very first time I have ever rated a Thriller/Mystery five stars. I’m trying to formulate a cohesive review, but all I can think to say is that this was just so good!

Recently, I’ve been in the midst of exams and haven’t had time to do anything except study and cry from sleep deprivation, but somehow this book kept me engaged and intrigued enough to set a few hours aside to read. This is definitely my favorite book from Gillian Flynn. There were so many directions this book could have headed in, and more amazingly is the fact that the way things were wrapped up was not only sensible but also satisfying.

**TW: animal abuse*** I just wanted to mention this, because it’s something that really turns me off from a book, so when I reached this section I just skipped it (only a page or two but I honestly couldn’t justify it or find it worthwhile to read).
